The New York Metro is the 2nd fastest growing tech ecosystem in the world – in Q1’25 there were more venture deals in emerging companies in New York (124), than in Silicon Valley (117). This first-time shift in the scales points to the expansion and acceleration of technology innovation in New York.

The heart of tech ecosystems are fueled by the core tri-fecta of startups, industry leaders, and investors – surrounded by academia, service providers, government, and mission-aligned non-profits.

Overall there are more than 25,000 tech startups in the New York Metro, 170 universities and colleges within 100 miles of midtown Manhattan, 82 global corporations headquartered with hundreds more having offices in the region. The tech sector in New York is now producing more jobs than the financial services sector.
